ESI principals have led investigations into acts of terrorism, industrial sabotage, and environmental crimes in North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

Internationally, ESI conducts state of the art investigations with satellites, interpretation of historical images, remote sensing, link analysis, and computer modeling. ESI has completed investigations using these tools in Asia, Russia, the Balkans, and Italy. ESI has a network of over 100 leading professionals around the world for investigations, security, environmental management, advanced technologies, and engineering. Many of these professionals are recognized leaders in their fields, and previously worked at government agencies such as US EPA, FBI, Secret Service, military organizations, engineering firms, and international organizations.

Since 1994, ESI principals have been leaders in the development of national and international standards for auditing, government enforcement policy, and environmental management from a compliance and security perspective. ESI environmental security systems are designed to continually demonstrate achievement of priority performance measures, and focus on improving management's capacity to detect, prevent, and mitigate the consequences of deliberate or negligent acts from inside or outside a facility.

Aspects of these systems may be integrated with operational controls and security monitoring techniques using technologies such as geo-spatial mapping and secure ether-net connections. Security focused environmental management systems have demonstrated process efficiencies that save resources and costs while minimizing wastes and risks, and represent a movement towards a more strategic sustainability.
